Assyrian dabke workshop
Come and bounce your way around, holding hands with your friends or friends-to-be. Dabke is alive in Enschede. Among others, it’s the dance of the Assyrian people (Suryoye). The Suryoye in Enschede are the largest group representing the community in the Netherlands. This open level workshop is a tribute to the dancing Suryoye community in Enschede. This hour, you can learn how to dance bagiye. Whether you are Suryoyo yourself, or part of another community, everybody is welcome to join in. This (free) workshop gives you a 10% discount for the subsequent course ‘Dabke & Stick dance’. Just register by e-mail.

Year schedule
Course year 2025/2026 is structured along 4 themes. You can register for a theme (7 lessons). The lessons take place on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings in the brick building at playground Kozakkenpark (10 minutes by bike from the UT!).
Course fee
A trial lesson costs €15. This amount will be deducted from the course fee if you continue. A single introductory workshop costs €15 (minimum 10 participants). A course of 7 lessons costs €65. After each course, you can decide whether or not to continue. There is a separate course fee for students and low-income earners.
Inclusivity
Accessibility for the male sex depends on the already registered participants. The Wednesday group has a core of participants who have been dancing since the foundation of Raqs Enschede in 2022.
